We were contacted by Purdue Pesticide Programs after they heard about our work with Purdue’s Forestry & Natural Resources Extension as well as the Community Development Extension. Their program faced similar challenges, including:
- Their site was built using SharePoint and was incredibly difficult to update.
- They were limited to the design and template provided to all the extensions that used SharePoint.
- Their site map and content were disorganized and not easy to navigate.
- Their site was not responsive.
The first step was to get their content organized. As the discovery process evolved, it became clear that their two main audiences deserved a section of their own where they could quickly and easily find all the information pertaining to their specific needs.
Next came the creative and development process which involved designing a custom responsive WordPress theme that was unique to their program while still adhering to Purdue’s brand guidelines. New features on the site include a sortable directory of their 100+ publications, a clean layout displaying all their manuals, a customized calendar plugin with search and filter options and a blog.
